Position: Senior Oracle & Database Engineer

Overview

Gateworth Group is supporting a Technology Consultancy in Saudi Arabia with the hire of a senior database specialist to take ownership of Oracle, Exadata, SQL Server, and MySQL environments. The role is suited to a hands‑on engineer with deep expertise across performance tuning, high availability, security, and enterprise‑grade database operations. The successful candidate will work closely with the Database Manager to drive operational excellence, governance, and continuous improvement across mission‑critical systems.

Main Responsibilities

• Administer and optimise Oracle databases across OCI, Exadata, RAC, Data Guard, and GoldenGate

• Lead performance tuning initiatives (SQL optimisation, indexing strategies, bottleneck resolution)

• Implement and maintain high availability and disaster recovery solutions across Oracle, SQL Server, and MySQL

• Manage backup and recovery processes (RMAN, transaction logs, binary backups, point‑in‑time recovery)

• Oversee secure database configurations, including RBAC, encryption, auditing, and advanced security features

• Design and implement scalable database architectures across Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, and Sybase

• Manage Exadata operations (storage cell configuration, intelligent storage pools, InfiniBand optimisation)

• Develop automation scripts to streamline administration tasks and improve operational efficiency

• Monitor database health, performance, and availability using advanced monitoring tools

• Troubleshoot complex issues including performance degradation, replication failures, and data corruption

• Support database change management processes (change windows, rollback plans, testing, communication)

• Contribute to governance frameworks, risk assessments, and policy development

• Stay up to date with emerging database technologies, industry trends, and security best practices

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in Oracle DBA roles

• Strong hands‑on experience with OCI, Exadata, RAC, Data Guard, and GoldenGate

• Proven experience in database migration, performance tuning, and high‑availability design

• Solid administration experience across SQL Server and MySQL

• Strong understanding of database security, encryption, auditing, and access control

• Experience troubleshooting complex database issues in enterprise environments

• Ability to design scalable, secure, and high‑performance database solutions

• Strong scripting and automation capability

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
